The leader of the FSM, Cehl Meeah, who is back in the country after two months, says there's “nothing mysterious about my missions abroad” and that religious teachings should not lead towards bigotry.

“I am a graduate in Islamic Law and I am fluent in  English, French, Urdu and Arabic. I can't resist international calls to cooperate in the field of peace and humanity throughout the world where my competence is needed,” he told News On Sunday  to silence his many detractors who claim mystery surrounds his missions abroad.

“It's not only Saudi Arabia that finances the  missions. There are also other humanitarian organisations in the United Kingdom, Japan, South Africa and Latin America. I'm  just back from
Japan, where I had to address an international audience comprising  people from Hindustan, Arabia and Europe, as well as some converts from Japan itself. It was a mission for Universal Peace in which I engaged myself two years ago and to which I am deeply committed. The experience I gain from these missions will, I'm sure, help me serve multi-cultural Mauritius better,” he adds.

Cehl Meeah also says that all forms of bigotry should be condemned and all religions teaching fundamentalism instead of wisdom, peace and harmony should be condemned. “The true religious teaching is meant exclusively for personal upliftment and should focus on how to live in harmony collectively in a society.

All religious leaders should condemn with force all teachings that lead to any form of bigotry,” he adds.
