The Minister of Industry and SMEs, Dr Rajesh Jeetah,  is ready to unveil new key policy measures to make life of entrepreneurs within the SME sector more easy. These measures would take into account the ground realities that would surface once the ‘Semaine de l’Entreprenariat’ (SDE) is over early July., he says.

The SDE has been specifically designed to assist entrepreneurs in all regions of the country who want to set up enterprises or expand existing ones. To achieve the objectives set, the Ministry of Industry and SMEs and SEHDA have teamed up with all supporting institutions, including local authorities, Enterprise Mauritius, DBM, SME Partnership Fund, Trust Fund for Integration of Vulnerable Groups, Empowerment Programme, Registrar of Companies, AREU and the Cooperative division of the ministry of Industry.

The Minister  kicked off the SDE last week  at the District Council of Grand-Port/Savanne, another event organised to boost entrepreneurship development. The SDE will take place in all district councils and municipalities. Each SDE will last from Monday to Friday in each of the local authorities, and entrepreneurs and the public will be able to meet officials of the above-mentioned institutions between 10 and 5 pm on these days.

Interactions between officials and entrepreneurs during the SDE will allow interested parties to discuss wide ranging issues related to clearances and permits, financial schemes, funds to support existing enterprises, availability of space for setting up of small production units, marketing and participation in fairs organised in Mauritius and abroad, amongst others.

The first SDE at the Southern District Council Headquarters has been deemed a success. In fact,  nearly 1000 persons have taken advantage of this facility. SDE has as main purpose to bring information directly to the doorsteps of potential and existing entrepreneurs to close the gap on information deficit.

The SDE will serve people in all areas serviced by District Councils and Municipalities. Making life of entrepreneurs easier, getting rid of unnecessary hassle whether bureaucratic or otherwise, are the key goals to be achieved.

The launching ceremony of the SDE has also benefited from the participation of the Minister of Agro-Industry, Dr Arvin Boolell, PPS Mootia, the director of SEHDA, Vijay Ramgoolam, amongst others.
