She is middle-aged, very dynamic, and practises yoga, which she calls an application to cure the body, mind and soul. Yoga for her is a science that helps to maintain a healthy body.

Asha Jaddoo is a yoga therapist. She says: “One just needs to do few asanas like pranayam, forward and back bending and vajra asana. If someone does these asanans for 15-20 minutes every day, one will feel the difference in oneself. Yoga helps to get freedom from all kinds of sufferings. It is the ultimate method. It gives you cosmic energy, physical health and mental peace. Yoga helps in changing the characteristic by developing positive mind, thinking, and positive life.”

Asha learnt all these while she was doing a certificate course in yoga, at Indira Gandhi Centre, Mauritius, and later when she went for a nine-month diploma programme  to the same institute.

Then she completed diploma courses in yoga therapy, acupressure, magnet therapy from the Oriental Massage Association, which is affiliated to The Institute of Alternative Medicine in Bombay. She  has also followed courses in Reiki and even completed scientifically validated Transcendental Meditation technique programme.

“I have been practising yoga consistently and enthusiastically for more than 25 years. I have learnt yoga with very committed and concentrated approach by reading and taking part in several workshops. I mastered Hatha Yoga from my guru Swami Venkatesananda, at Divine  Life Society. My goal is to share my knowledge and the benefit of yoga practice,” she adds. According to Asha, the world is moving at such a speed that human lives are becoming more and more stressful.

In spite of their busy lives, people are increasingly feeling that yoga is the best preventive technique to deal with stress and other imbalances of the body and mind.

Women between 25 and 45 are more concerned about their health. They like to keep themselves healthy and active. Yoga also helps to keep you young. Those who are practising yoga are aware that they are not only getting rid of stress but also keeping diabetes and heart disease at bay. “One should do yoga according to one's capacity but should follow the minimum routine to get the benefits. I must say anyone can start practising yoga at any age. It replaces your destructive tendencies by good thoughts and will also improve social skills. Your ability to work hard will improve. Yoga provides full  fitness and strength with the least stress. back pain, etc,” she says.

Asha believes that the situation of women is continuously improving. They have become major key players in our society. They are managing all their duties and responsibilities with respect and dignity. Because of their many liabilities.“I have seen that women are  getting more stressed and facing many health problems such as depression, back ache, cervical etc. I must say yoga is the perfect method which can help them to get rid of all these physical and mental problems. Yoga not only cures, but helps to live a healthy and peaceful life.”
