This 25- year-old woman is actively advising women to follow a blood test regularly to make sure they are not suffering from diabetes. This can be done by a simple screening test at the association. She thinks if women adopt a healthy lifestyle, have a balanced diet and do physical activities regularly, they can avoid becoming diabetics.
Diabetes, she underscores, can’t be cured and the treatment can be very expensive.
Born in Cameroon, Nadege completed her Bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Paris and her Master's Degree in Marketing Strategy at the ISC Business School in Paris.
Nadege explains that a Communication Manager always supports the organization for its external communications functions, such as interacting with media, business officials, press, designers and the public.
“After my studies, I joined the Advertising group DDB in Belgium, but I always wanted to join a human centred organisation. That’s why I applied to APSA International and fortunately I got the job. What I like in my profession is creativity and diversity. Creativity helps to communicate in different ways and with different tools, like a press release or a website. Diversity focuses on the skills required for this job - rigour, planning and creativity. In my profession, I am part of a project team which works closely with me. This makes my job more interesting,” she says.
According to Nadege, women in Africa are playing a strategic role in the development of their countries while the Mauritian women, who are also hard working, are becoming key players in business and social activities.
“As far as social work is concerned, one can truly see how women are proving their professionalism and determination. The perseverance of Mauritian women is a challenge to me,” she avers.
Nadege has travelled around Africa, European Countries, the USA, Saint Vincent and Martinique. She appreciates the way of life in Mauritius. For her, Mauritians attach much importance to family values, humanity and brotherhood.
“Among the women I know in Mauritius, what I appreciate the most is their generosity, regardless of their colours, situations or positions in society,” she says.
She considers that the main obstacle in life is “our own pride. We have the tendency to put the fault on others instead of accepting our mistake. If one changes oneself, definitely the society will also change.”
Nadege feels that opportunities exist in Mauritius and everything is possible for those who want to succeed in their enterprises.
