Two partners, middle-aged, decide to spend an evening together where one of them was working as watchman. The place looks perfect for sweet whispers and a nice dinner by a pond on Le Bosquet Estate, in Gros Cailloux. Unfortunately, the woman had no wind  that  murder was also on the menu.

Marie Louise Cordier, 47 years,  residing at Allée Mangue, Gros Cailloux, had to take her partner's dinner to the estate where he worked as watchman for the night. The couple were supposed to have some time to themselves away  from the glare of their children. Marie reached the place on time with the dinner. The couple sat down by the pool and washed their dinner down with some alcohol. At some point, their quiet talk turned into a full blown argument. In a fit of anger, Louis, grabbed her neck and plunged her head into the water, strangling her at the same time. Once she was dead, he calmly went back to work and returned home early the next morning.

The children at home kept asking about their mother's whereabouts. Louis Antoine, 56 yrs, avoided their questions, refused to answer, and instead argued with them. People close to the family found this odd. What's more, Louis had taken to the bottle and his behaviour had changed. They also noticed that he was sporting scratches over his neck and face.

Their apprehensions were allayed when police fished out the body of Marie from Le Bosquet Estate the following morning.

The CPMO, Dr Satish Boolell, certified that death was due to asphyxia caused by drowning. Police would have classified the case as suicide, but the CPMO, found scratch marks over the victims' neck and murder was not ruled out.

CID interrogated Louis and he confessed having assaulted her.

He appeared at the Bambous Tribunal and was  provisionally charged with murder.
