“MMM voters are flocking in to the PMSD fold. Slowly but surely our ranks are swelling and we will continue our recruitment,” said secretary general, Rama Valayden at the PMSD post-congress conference at the St Georges Hotel, in Port Louis, on Tuesday.

“The PMSD is not only improving its local appeal, the party is also targeting Mauritians in France, Reunion Island, and the UK, among others, to lend support and to draw on foreign expertise and talent.

The PMSD intends to organise and structure itself to become a force to
be reckoned with. To become a respectable party, we will need to find a blend of people from all backgrounds who can bring a wide range of competence and experience. One of the key issues is to get the diaspora on board,” he said.

The next step for the PMSD will be to select 120 members for its national congress and be prepared to run in the coming election.

“The leader, Xavier, and the president Allet will be holding meetings around the country to bring the party at a local level. We all have a shared responsibility to hold regular public meetings,” he added.
