The Martello tower.
The door to the past is only a few metres off the historic site of Les Salines salt pans in Black River where lies the L’Harmonie, one of only three remaining Martello Towers out of the five built in Mauritius between 1830 and 1833. All of them look the same from a distance but none of these chimneys are identical.
You must surely have ignored their existence. They are the tall, pencil-like stone structures emerging from the ground in the midst of sugarcane fields and at times from residential areas. They were once the proud chimneys of our sugar mills scattered around Mauritius.Medicine supply disappoints

Some 444 police offciers lined up at the Gymkhana grounds on Saturday.
The issue of law and order in Mauritius still remains the talk of the town with the ever-increasing crime rate. Responsibilities are shared in this regard and the major chunk rests on the shoulders of the law enforcers, the Mauritius Police Force.
