The news of the resignation/sacking of Bijaye Madhou as Director General of the MBC was broken with a resounding echo during the weekend. As was to be expected, it's the MBC that was given the privilege of announcing it first. The ex-Director General affirms he has resigned, others confirm that he was asked to resign, which is akin to being sacked.

The news didn't surprise anybody though. Almost everybody knew it was coming and quite a number were even growing impatient on the process of expectation. And many people woke up in Saturday morning with a sigh of satisfaction, although ex-director General had never done any personal harm to any of them.

The satisfaction however was short lived and it vanished in thin air, when they heard the name of the one who had been called upon to step into the shoes of Bijaye Madhou. They had the feeling of falling from the frying pan into the fire.

Some people will never be satisfied, they find
the new Director General, Dan Callikan too close to the Prime Minister to occupy such a post. What did they expect? Did they really expect that the Prime Minister would nominate somebody close to the opposition to occupy such a post? How naïve can some people be!

Now that Bijay Madhou is out of the MBC many are deriving much pleasure by continuing demolishing him, perhaps finding it easier to trample over somebody who is already writhing on the ground; defenceless. It is a common practice to give a dog a bad name before hanging him. But in the present case the main protagonist may have deserved and earned the bad name. It would also appear that he had been more sinned against than sinning.

The new Director General who is quite an old hand at the MBC has a colossal challenge awaiting him. It would probably not be very proper or precise to talk of an Augean stable but it bears a very close resemblance. Many vultures will sit on the wall and watch critically while Dan Callikan will be busy cleaning it.
