Lack of arable soil in Mauritius

Hi.
I would like to understand what we mean by " Lack of suitable land for Farming and Agriculture ". How ironic can it get? Mauritius has enough land for the survival of the people but as usual it's Politricks in the way of progress and self sufficiency. How long will we just sit down and take it on the chin?
We've seen how incompetent most of our Ministers can be and we still don't do anything about it. We just keep begging from the Central Government when deep down we know they don't care about the Poor, they are and will always be too attached to Power and incredibly afraid to lose Grip.
So,where are we going as a Nation? If we don't put a stop at the " Sak zako protez so montagn " policy, then there is really nothing that can be done to really achieve self sufficiance and independent. We keep saying 40 years of independence, are we really independent?
Now, the irony of the case is " Integrated Resorts Scheme ", it's like hey what can you do about it, we decide, we make decisions and all you've got to do is just shut up and live your lives. Oh, please don't get involved or you can be really disappointed. Things like Police Brutality,
Bouncers who just can't stop causing pains, persecutions and intimidations will be part of your everyday life.
We need Rich and Famous in the country no matter what price we've got to pay is the Motto of our Government, it kind of remind us of the time before the so called "Independence of our Motherland",i.e, our Beloved Country was being given away by our so called "Father of The Nation" to the Super Powers just for the sake of Politricks and never a shred of thought and compassion for the Mauritian People. It is so heartbreaking when we see our beautiful country going down the drains again and again just for politcal and personal gains.
I have said before and I will repeat myself again, I am not a Terrorist, I am not anti-mauritian, I am not Communalist, I am not Racist, I am not Casteist, on the contrary I am Mauritian by heart and I will die Mauritian no matter where I am.
I really appreciate the Massive Job that is and has been done by our brothers and sisters in Journalism whether it is written or spoken versions, the message is being passed on to the Masses and hope people will start thinking in terms of Patriotism instead of Greed, Ignorance and it does not affect me business that are causing too much damage to our Paradise Island. Long live Mauritius. Long live Democracy.

" Lack of suitable land for Farming and Agriculture "
Dear you all The suitability of land for farming and agriculture in the entire "THIRD WORLD" (western client-states) is decided by the World Bank or the International Monetary Fund (run by Jews and Zionists), and not by the Mauritian Government which is just their puppet pretending to represent the masses. Tomorrow, they may decide that we can no more plant sugarcanes in the island, but soya for their pigs in Europe, and we will have to comply and convert to soya bean planters! To make us swallow the pill, they will first introduce a disease that will destroy sugarcane plantations all over the island (with government complicity, of course) and then come up with their solution. PROBLEM - REACTION - SOLUTION! For that matter, it is again the World Bank and the IMF that decide how much land THEY CAN AND WILL TAKE to build casinos, brothels (going under various names), hotels, and factories. They never needed and never will need any government approval for that. Ghyslaine ROC Sunday 13th of April 2008 |

Some of your statements are pure fantasies and ill thought of. I do somehow agree that in the early days, the lack of experience in the cabinet and the cunning and smart ones were following traditions and back handers to support Apatheid South Africa. So we never grew anything. My god who says that wwe lack arable lands. You have to treat, nurture your land like a child to reap harvest.
Why don't we accept that in modern times no one wishes to dirty their hands. There are "GLOVES" available to do the job. People who have land, build concrete all over and do not and cannot think of the importance of a garden, trees, flowers and the benefit they would get. Do you see many breadfruit trees nowadays? How many people grow casava(manioc) and sweet potatoes? Some people grow just the ones that are easy and yield good and quick results, CHILLIES!! Well, Ghyslaine ROC also has made a valuable contribution here. This is the conspiracy theory. Yes, we are NOT a big nation that can compete with the big brothers, always on our knees. The author here has stated that " Sak zako protez so montagn " Whilst this may be true in some cases BUT I disagree as we become more and more selfish and self centred in a modernised Mauritius. I am not entirely for IRS. This is a quick fix for the Mauritian economy. All our natural coastlines are being taken over. Please note that people grow vegetables on the coastline and the building of these concrete jungles means those stop are being stripped off their wage earning lands. If only some people would visit these lands to see how arable the land are in producing high quality vegetables. I have personally visited sites that will be closed end of the year when IRS scheme at Beau Champ is completed. You will also seize to enjoy your coastal ride. I do appreciate what our elders have done in the contribution of a developed and sustained Mauritian society. I would NOT attribute our development to journalism but to the commitment of all Mauritians in whatever way they have and can continue to contribute. |

"Well, Ghyslaine ROC also has made a valuable contribution here. This is the conspiracy theory." MUNNA WHO, MUNNA WHAT?
What "conspiracy theory"? Don't you have a mother tongue and self-made thoughts and views instead of parroting western paranoid slogans? When 9/11 sponsor G.W. Bush speaks of "conspiracy theories" he always means the ones made by the Jewish White House, the MOSSAD-CIA and Apartheid Israel! I leave theories to others. I only deal in provable facts! Watch Alex Jones' Terrorstorm or Endgame, then we'll talk about who are the real authors of conspiracy theories, that is when you find yourself a proper name, love? I challenge you or anybody to refute the statements I made? Ghyslaine ROC Monday 14th of April 2008 |

Where is the main Caldera in Mauritius? Ehh... Ebene & Trianon & Highlands ... well Cybercity (betonville !!!), Sithanenville (new town at Highlands), Paddockville (the new race course), Trianon Mall (not to confuse with Pall Mall of the London kids)? Do I need to say how arable is a caldera?
Did someone say God created Mauritius (with Pareetalao apparently cited in the Ramayana) then fancy him making Paradise a copy of Mauritius? If only that person could know that Mauritius and Paradise are marked twain that shall never look alike since Berenger and Ramgoolam have been ... in Mauritius. |

It is not true, Insaaf, to say that "Les milliards de dollars et d’euros qui entrent au pays pour payer l’achat par des étrangers de villas de luxe au bord de la mer vont gonfler nos réserves à la satisfaction de Sithanen". No, there is no billions coming in forms of Euros, dollars or pound sterlings. Sales of luxury villas & bungalows are done out of Mauritius through an Estate Agency. Only the notarial deeds are executed in Mauritius with local payment for the deeds, sales tax, sales registration taxes. And here also there is the cheat of underinvoicing.
As for job creation in IRS, there are only bibis (housemaids), bundwarees (petty cooks), gardeners and chauffeurs, not to say also "chauffeuses" and secrétaires not to say "secréteuses" and that's all. The only winners are those handling the IRS approvals in Mauritius. God knows how many of them have bought properties in UK, France ... |

Hi,
Hey guys we are not here to fight each other, instead, we are here to share ideas and thoughts for our beloved country, brothers and sisters. Someone said that some of my statements are pure fantasies and ill thought of. I appreciate his/her opinion, but, it's not the first time I've been said things like that, this is what we call "Freedom Of Speech". Deep down I know that there is more truth in my message than just fantasies or pure fiction. I just want to educate the masses and open our own eyes and stand up for once to let the people we vote every five years as our Representatives within the Central Government and Main Opposition Party in Parliaments that we are not stupid and that one day we will just tell them to go because enough is enough. Take care all of you and we hope there will be a better future for our little paradise island. Cocasse. |

Dear Mr Calloo
I did not read your article, except for the title and the first line. “I would like to understand what we mean by " Lack of suitable land for Farming and Agriculture ". But, now that you have identified yourself, if Moubarak Calloo is your real name, I fail to understand why, if your intention was to “educate the masses”, that you had to hide behind a pseudonym and such a grotesque email identification. If you really wanted to let the “masses” know that you all who vote were “not stupid”, the only wise thing to do should have been not to vote at all, because history has repeatedly proven that it never matters who and what you vote for in such a western-style democracy. As for your telling your elected representatives “to go because enough is enough”, you should also have known that once “your” representatives are elected, they always immediately cease to be your representatives, but the boot lickers of their political parties, of big businesses, and of their own self interests, and always ready to prostitute themselves to any Tom, Dick and Harry. As an “educator”, I would have thought that you would have at least let your “masses” know whether the answers I provided were correct or no. Now, I have had some time to read your post and would like to comment your last two paragraphs. I tried to find out what "Cocasse" had said before about him/her not being a Terrorist, an anti-Mauritian, a Communalist, a Racist, Casteist, but to no avail. I have to confess that I have never known what to be a “Mauritian at heart” means! Isn’t it very bold to say that “… I will die Mauritian no matter where I am.”? Have you ever asked yourself who your “brothers and sisters in Journalism” really work for? But, you are right when you speak of the “Massive Job” they have accomplished in their war against “Greed, Ignorance” and in making the masses think “in terms of Patriotism” … no matter what! I didn’t quite understand though the point you were making regarding “me business”. You give the impression that you work for the tourist industry when you speak of “our Paradise Island”, don’t you? Long live Mauritius FOR WHAT? This was just food for thought, my countryman. Please, do not take it as an offence. I love eating curry, but I appreciate it best when you add some nice hot chillies to it! As for your “Long live Democracy”, it shows that you haven’t got a clue what this really means! Just think about this one: WESTERN-STYLE DEMOCRACY ALWAYS ENDS UP IN A DICTATORSHIP! Yours sincerely Ghyslaine ROC Friday 18th of April 2008 P.S. I hope you know what "Cocasse" means! |

Tell me, my Goodman whose “nickname is Cocasse” or “mash-up-mojo cocasse” or whatever!
1. You publicise your wish “… to understand what we mean by " Lack of suitable land for Farming and Agriculture ", and I made one comment and provided the readers with one answer, but I haven’t read your response to it. 2. You did however respond, signing “Moubarak Calloo” and addressed all of us saying : “Hey guys we are not here to fight each other…”, and made additional statements, which I presume were again to “educate the masses” of which you don’t seem to be a part. 3. I thank you for your email clarifying that “Cocasse” was not your “Pseudonym or Nom De Plume” but your “Nickname or Sobriquet or Nom Gate”, although I would have expected a response here on this blog. 4. So, it is your opinion that I waste your time with my “gossips or childish behaviours”, that I “take the mickey”, and that I have been “bitchy” in my commentary. 5. Well, if, as you say (insinuate), Democracy is your religion, I have nothing to say against your beliefs and non-beliefs. I do not have this right. As you may have noticed I do not discuss about beliefs here (unless asked for), but of facts, provable facts. Having said that, you still have avoided/neglected responding to my commentary, which is perfectly your right to do so, but I do not see the point then to write to me in private! I do not see how “we can still communicate without any hard feelings” as you say, when you want to have a one way communication, and when you have set out to “educate the masses” and not to be educated by others! My intention is not to “kind of challenge people to prove (me) wrong”, but only to prove me wrong in case they disagree by providing their verifiable facts, because I am not a fascist to pretend to be always right, and, if proven wrong, I will be only too glad to apologize for my ignorance and correct my mistakes. But, is this the case here? My intention was not to get personal, as you say. Because, it is my choice and principle not to ‘debate’ with aliases, nicknames, first names, sobriquets, and unidentifiable sexual characters, etc., I find it difficult, inappropriate, and in most cases futile to even comment or quote from an army of “Cocasses” and what not! Finally, are we more informed now that you have vented (in private) your discontentment with my two commentaries? I would however like to let you know that I do not communicate in slang or using inappropriate language. If, as an “éducateur des masses”, you “really don't know what (my) problems are or simply what (I am) trying to prove”, as you say, I cannot help you, my good man.
