Road Safety Campaign? My foot!

Hello,
I have attached a photo which shows how uncaring and careless even some of our policemen can get.
This kind of parking is definitely not allowed unless I am stupid.

Getting late to my appointment was not a problem as I could not unpark however hard I tried, but my questions are:
1/ Can a policeman park whereever he wants and however he wants?
2/ What if there was an accident, serious or not, caused by this careless parking?
3/ What if it was a member of the public who parked like this? Would there have been a consequence like contravention or may be worst? Or should I say can a member of the public park like this without fearing any problem?
4/ It was my car which the policeman double parked and what surprised me was that people around was getting more annoyed than me. What if the mob gathered turned out to
be hostile because of him, who by the way was
supposed to set example?
5/ Was I allowed to move his motorbike to be able to unpark?
6/ What if I had done it and at the same time he came around and reprimanded me?
7/ Was I supposed to just wait till he came back, however long he took? 10 minutes wait was more than enough and in fact as I mentioned I missed my appointment because of this but what if he took 2, 3, 4 (more) times longer? Was I supposed to just cross fingers and wait patiently?
To my standards, this is definitely not allowed and ethically not feasible, whoever it could be as not only does it endanger the surroundings but it also embarrasses the person(s) affected.
I was hoping to speak to the man who represents the law and order when he came but he just got on his bike, not even a look or word of excuse, and swiftly went away.
Besides, I kind of feared retaliation as well.
Leaving the photo for your attention and it is good noting that this is not the first time a member of law and order fails to abide to rules but unfortunately this is only the first time I managed to get a picture.
Thanks

I bet if the police officer was on duty and was on an urgent task, he had the right to park like that. for example, if he came across a pickpocket or saw someone being attacked, he may have stopped his bike immediately and rushed to the crime scene to help.
We do not know the reason why the policeman parked his bike there, so we cannot conclude anything negative until we klnow the truth. if there was a fire there, I bet a fire engine will have done the same thing. |

Hi Anonymous (guest)! Indeed I should congratulate you and appreciate the time and effort you've put into writing every single detail about your incident; it must have taken your time. Well, very often a doctor happens not to be able to save his own life and I think that's the case for some of our 'professionals' in Mauritius.
I feel very sorry for those cops who manage to take the oath to be loyal and devoted towards their duty; but unfortunately turn to be creeps. Sorry, but I don't mean to be rude and should say that I am the lucky and proud daughter of an ex-police Sergeant who proved his long service and good conduct. He earned a lot of medals from the queen of England. Well if one does a work just for money fair enough, but if one does that with love and attention that's a different thing. Si pas capave assume responsabilité-là lève paké allé camarade! Alle guette zenfant lacaze et cuit manzé. A well wisher for those in trouble! |

May I propose that the photo be referred to the CP for action. He should consider sacking the Officer for endangering life of members of the public. Or will he wait for somebody to die/be killed then start pushing paperwork to dilute the death? The CP will be judged on the preventive step. Hope is for the s.... minded!!!

The number plate is clear and this MUST be reported to the authotities concerned and I would even post this to the PM office and the ministry of Justice!!
The people I hate MOST in Mauritius are the Police. They have too much power or perceived they have too much power until they are thrashed out in court. Those people who are interested should read all the court reports published and you will see how there are a lots of cases the Police lose in court when challenged. I take it Rama Valayden, The chief Police Commissioner do not read thse segment of news on Defi Media. these officers need to be named and shamed. |
