High investments
The Beachcomber Hotels group has invested an amount of 3.5 billion rupees in its hotel at Trou-aux-Biches, in  a bid to offer tourists, holiday of their dreams in Mauritius.

Whitefield Business School, a private tertiary educational institution, has introduced a new field of study from this year, cyber crime, in collaboration with the Asian School of Cyber Laws.

Construction work on the new Beachcomber 333 five star suites and Villas, Resort and Spa at Trou aux Biches is nearing completion and the hotel is set to open a new chapter in its success story through sustainable developments in November.

IBL foundation
In an effort to support mentally challenged children in the age group 0-6 years, the IBL foundation has signed an agreement to finance the programme of ‘early intervention’ of the APEIM (Association de Parents d’Enfants Inadaptés de l’Ile Maurice) with an amount of 1.3 million rupees at Mahebourg on Wednesday.

There is yet another move to equip women with key entrepreneurial skills and management competencies through a special programme lasting 60 hours.

Branding Mauritius
Enterprise Mauritius (EM) has announced the names of five companies entitled to a grant of Rs 1million each for  brand development , which is  in its second edition this year .

Every effort is now being made to render firms more competitive in the global market through an accreditation
process put in place by the Mauritius Accreditation Service established under the Ministry of Industry.

The State Bank of Mauritius (SBM) recorded a profit of around Rs 1.04 billion for the six months that ended on December 31, 2009 against Rs 1.07 billion at the end of the corresponding period in 2008.

MCB fares well
The MCB Group has made profits after tax of around Rs 1.7 billion, representing a decrease of 11.2% over the corresponding period in 2008-2009.

Mauritius and Google, the dominant search engine, have teamed up to launch the ‘Google Cache Servers’ (GCS) at Ebène’s Cyber Tower. Mauritius is the second African country, after Kenya, to host GCS.

To reposition Mauritius as a platform for high quality products and services that comply with the international standards and to level the playing ground for all certification bodies,  the Mauritius Accreditation Service (MAURITAS) has launched its web-site, www.mauritas.org.

One Stop Shop  Toyota
Toyota Mauritius is working directly with Toyoto Tsusho Corporation(TTC), a global society based in Japan  with the intention of providing customers with one stop shop for both buying and financing.

To render local enterprises more competitive in a new age of industrial development, Government  has drafted a fourteen point strategic plan. The plan will provide a framework and focus on new areas of development.
