At its meeting on Monday afternoon, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Mauritius decided by a majority vote to maintain the Key Repo Rate at 4.90 per cent per annum.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Mauritius has on Monday reduced the Key Repo Rate by 50 basis points, from 5.40 percent to 4.90 percent. The decision was taken by the MPC by a majority vote, after a second round of voting.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Mauritius has cut the Key Repo Rate by 10 basis points to 5.40 per cent per annum at its meeting on Monday. The MPC notes that the euro zone sovereign debt crisis has worsened since the last MPC meeting in September 2011, increasing the downside risks to growth and raising fears of recession in the zone. Given simultaneous poor growth prospects in the US, global inflationary pressures have calmed down.
