The four-day Infotech fair which was held at SVICC, Pailles, laid much emphasis on the use of green technology. One such gadget retained the attention of visitors: the Solar Notebook NC2155S.
No matter how power-saving a laptop is, a laptop cell cannot maintain a long time. Moreover, the Lion cell causes big pollution for the environment. This is how a solar-powered laptop came into the designers’ mind.
Samsung released a netbook that has a backup power source to sunlight. Samsung NC 215S is equipped with one side or the lid coated so that solar panels are capable of burning for 14.5 hours.
Samsung released it on June, 2011. It is equipped with a solar power panel and Lion cell. The backup lion cell can give an hour of battery life after charging for two hours in the sun. The notebook can thus have autonomy of more than 14 hours.

This solar power notebook is equipped with an Intel Atom N455/N570 CPU and a 10.1 inch 1024×600 superbright LED backlit. An integrated Intel GMA 3150 graphics, a 1GB RAM, an SD card slot, a webcam, WiFi and a 6-cell battery.

Solar power advantages & disadvantages
Advantages are that solar power does not pollute the environment and is the biggest power source. It’s the greenest power source. But the disadvantage is also obvious. The power density is very low and the generator efficiency is also low. So the cost will higher than traditional power source.

Though it is solar-powered, Samsung NC2155S is not a luxury; it is available at Rs 14,900 + Vat.
