This year, to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her 60th year as Head of the Commonwealth, all entries into the 2012 Young Commonwealth Competitions became part of the world’s biggest history project, the Commonwealth Jubilee Time Capsule.
More than 37,000 people from 66 different countries took part in the Jubilee Time Capsule. The top 60 entries chosen by a panel were uploaded onto a tablet computer and later move to the Royal Collection in Windsor, becoming the first artifact on a tablet computer to enter the Collection.
In Mauritius, 150 participants entered for the competition this year. The best entries for Mauritius, which received gold and silver awards, were rewarded with certificates from the RCS and prizes offered by the English-Speaking Union and Barclays Bank Plc during the prize-award ceremony hosted by Barclays on Wednesday 5th December 2012. The students also received prizes from H.E. Mr Nick Leake, British High Commissioner, and H.E. Mrs Shari Villarosa, Ambassador of the United States of America.
The winners are: Shareeza-Saba Seeroo, Videhn V. Aukhogee, Meghna L.D. Jokhoo, Yeshwanee Seepaul, Bibi Zainab Mungloo, Vedanth Tulsi, Deveejan Sohorye, Yajushi Karinta Rani Domah, and Pravi Leung Pack Wing.
