Dr Vasant Bunwaree also appeal for more responsibility from the parents and added that the School Plus Programme would be introduced this year. This new programme aims at bridging the school and the community for the welfare of the children. Parents will also be able to communicate directly with officers of the Ministry via SMS.
As far as the tablets for Form IV students are concerned, as announced in the Budget 2013 speech, Dr Bunwaree affirmed that these would be available in two to three months’ time. He assured that security measures regarding particular websites would be taken. Also, he added that the Mauritius Insititute of Education (MIE) is already working on converting the books into e-books which will be available on the tablets.
While the pre-primary and secondary sector, registered no major complaints for the primary sector did reckon several incidents. At Jean Lebrun G.S, Plaine Verte, parents expressed their anxiety upon a handrail on the second floor which they believe was dangerous.
At Émilienne-Rochecouste G.S in Quatre-Bornes, 18 parents requested the departure of a teacher in charge of a Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) class while at Surtee Sunee G.S in Vallée Pitot, parents demonstrated against the transfer of one teacher.
