Now that the results of the Higher School Certificate are already out, admission procedures to Universities have already started. UoM is offering 13 new courses for the academic year 2012/13 as well as part-time courses for the benefit of those who are working. Also, the programmes offered are meant to be more accessible to mature students.
The Faculty of Agriculture, two new courses is introducing: BSc (Hons) Agriscience and Technology (Minor: Agribusiness Management) which is a full-time course over a period of three years; and BSc (Hons) Food Hygiene and Environmental Health (Top-Up Programme) a part-time course over a period of two years. This programme is meant for holders of a Diploma in Sanitary Science/Environmental Science/Environmental Health or in any other related field.
In the Faculty of Engineering, five new courses are being introduced: BSc (Hons) Applied Computing, BSc (Hons) Software Engineering and BSc (Hons) Design and Colour Applications for Industry over three years. BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (Minor: Energy Systems) and BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (Minor: Industrial Systems) will be offered over a period of four years. This faculty is offering no part time courses.
One new course has been introduced in the Faculty of Science: BSc (Hons) Mathematics/BSc (Hons) Mathematics with Statistics/BSc (Hons) Mathematics with Finance, a full-time course over three years. BSc (Hons) Chemistry for Analysis is also available on a part-time basis over two years. This programme is meant for holders of a Diploma in Chemical Analysis and Instrumental Techniques or a Diploma in Chemistry or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University of Mauritius.
Faculty of Social Studies and Humanities is offering three new courses: BA (Hons) Mauritian and Heritage Studies, BA (Hons) History with Applied Research Methods and BA (Hons) History and Sociology, all full-time courses over three years.
In collaboration with the Mahatma Gandhi Institute, a Diploma and a BA (Hons) in Advertising and Visual Communications is also being introduced. The course duration is two years. No new course is available in the Faculty of Law and Management this is available.

13 new courses on offer at UoM
Admission to the University of Mauritius (UoM) for the academic year 2012/13, starting in August, is already open. Students have up to March 18 to submit their application. This year, the University is offering thirteen new courses.
