Modern history of Mauritius in Schools

The Minister of Education has announced the introduction of History of Mauritius at both primary and secondary level as from next year. According to the ministry, there is a lot of duplication in the existing curriculum for History in Upper primary and Lower Secondary. Too much emphasis is on the Dutch, French and British rule in Mauritius whereas the pre and post-independence periods are merely broached.
