The consulting firm Arab Consulting Engineers, who worked on the Ring Road project, has already submitted a preliminary report to the Road Development Authority on the cracks noted on part of this road in Pailles.
This was confirmed by Tarek Saad –Zag-loul, an official of the Arab Consulting Engineers on Radio Plus. Speaking from Cairo on Tuesday, Tarek Saad Zag-loul said the engineers visited Pailles to investigate first-hand the damage on that particular stretch of the Ring Road. After this exercise, they concluded that the main problem remains the design of this part of the Ring Road. Tarek Saad - Zag loul also blamed the “contractors” who had the approval of the French and South African consultants for the design and construction of this road. He did not exclude the possibility that the clay layer underlying this part of the road could be the cause.

Rehm-Grinaker has issued a statement, saying that “there being an ongoing technical investigation, it would be inappropriate on our part to comment on the situation at this stage. We wish to assure all stakeholders and the public in general that we are fully cooperating with the relevant authorities and bodies so as to establish a spectrum of eventual causes to the problem. We have proactively forwarded our findings to the consultant and the client…”
