The FATCA legislation, voted in 2010 and effective as of 1st January 2014, is an additional fiscal measure to the US taxation system, which aims at achieving conformity by imposing a 30% withholding tax on certain US source payments made to 'foreign financial institutions' (FFIs) and 'non-financial foreign entities' (NFFEs) that fail to identify certain US investors, even if such US persons directly or indirectly hold only non-US assets.
Three experts from Grant Thornton UK will be participating in the seminar: Dana Ward, Tax Partner, Malcolm Thomas, Senior Manager –Business Consulting and George Palmer, Tax Associate. Grant Thornton Mauritius, established in 1999, is a member of Grant Thornton International.
