Rita (fictitious name), student aged 15 years, attending Simadree Virahsawmy State Secondary School (SSS), formerly known as the SSS of Rivière-du-Rempart, attempted suicide in the afternoon of Wednesday 9, May, by jumping from the first floor of the school building. She was admitted to SSRN hospital, suffering from multiple injuries. She is, however, out of danger.

Unplesant surprise
A woman residing at Grand Baie had an unpleasant surprise on Saturday when she found that her house was burgled. Two cameras, a laptop, an I-Pod, a watch and a platinum wedding ring were stolen. The amount of the booty has not been determined yet.

Jagatsing Doobraz, mostly known as Roshan, shopkeeper aged 30, residing at Petite-Pointe-aux-Piments has confessed to the killing of his wife by burning her alive and then trying to masquerade it as a suicide.

Tourists attacked at Blue Bay
Two residents of Mahebourg, a woman aged 23 and a man, were arrested for attacking two French couples in a bungalow at Blue Bay on Tuesday night. During their interrogation one of the suspects confessed the theft. Several stolen items were found at their place. One of the victims talked to Radio Plus on Wednesday and related his ordeal.

Donald (fictitious name) aged 32 and residing at Baie-du-Tombeau was victim of a theft by a group of ten individuals travelling on motorcycles on Monday morning while he was rescuing two injured people who had had an accident.

Tanzila, aged 31 and residing at Plaine-Verte had received threats of acid attack from her neighbours on Wednesday. This young woman is not in good terms with her neighbours for years.

Noor-E-Ahmad Boodhoo, a serial thief aged 34 and residing at Morcellement Swan, Pereybere was arrested by CID of Grand Bay on Monday.

141 Bullets found at Curepipe
During a major search operation, the police found 141 bullets of .22 calibers at the house of Imteeaz Chadun at Curepipe. The young man as well as one of his relatives who had a syringe that police suspected contained Subutex were arrested. 

It was around 6.30pm on Tuesday when a woman aged 33 and residing in a suburb of Port-Louis tried to commit suicide. She swallowed rat poison which she had purchased some time ago. Ealier, she tried to immolate herself.

Nivisha (modified name) aged 16 committed suicide at her home at Goodlands on Tuesday afternoon. Nivisha, who was a student of a college in the north of the island put an end to her life by hanging herself.

Boy drowns at La Ferme
Kinsley David aged 14, a resident of Bambous, drowned at La Ferme reservoir on Monday. The teenager had decided to bathe into the reservoir together with three friends but he found himself in difficulty.
