Theft-accused student

Rita (fictitious name), student aged 15 years, attending Simadree Virahsawmy State Secondary School (SSS), formerly known as the SSS of Rivière-du-Rempart, attempted suicide in the afternoon of Wednesday 9, May, by jumping from the first floor of the school building. She was admitted to SSRN hospital, suffering from multiple injuries. She is, however, out of danger.

Unplesant surprise
A woman residing at Grand Baie had an unpleasant surprise on Saturday when she found that her house was burgled. Two cameras, a laptop, an I-Pod, a watch and a platinum wedding ring were stolen. The amount of the booty has not been determined yet.

Tourists attacked at Blue Bay
Two residents of Mahebourg, a woman aged 23 and a man, were arrested for attacking two French couples in a bungalow at Blue Bay on Tuesday night. During their interrogation one of the suspects confessed the theft. Several stolen items were found at their place. One of the victims talked to Radio Plus on Wednesday and related his ordeal.

During a major search operation, the police found 141 bullets of .22 calibers at the house of Imteeaz Chadun at Curepipe. The young man as well as one of his relatives who had a syringe that police suspected contained Subutex were arrested.

It was around 6.30pm on Tuesday when a woman aged 33 and residing in a suburb of Port-Louis tried to commit suicide. She swallowed rat poison which she had purchased some time ago. Ealier, she tried to immolate herself.
