During a major search operation, the police found 141 bullets of .22 calibers at the house of Imteeaz Chadun at Curepipe. The young man as well as one of his relatives who had a syringe that police suspected contained Subutex were arrested.

It was around 6.30pm on Tuesday when a woman aged 33 and residing in a suburb of Port-Louis tried to commit suicide. She swallowed rat poison which she had purchased some time ago. Ealier, she tried to immolate herself.

Boy drowns at La Ferme
Kinsley David aged 14, a resident of Bambous, drowned at La Ferme reservoir on Monday. The teenager had decided to bathe into the reservoir together with three friends but he found himself in difficulty.
About 300 persons will be conveyed to a workshop on 19 April at the International Conference Centre at Grand Baie. This event,  organised by the Commission on Maurice Ile Durable, will be opened by Environment Minister Deva Virahsawmy.

Three families homeless after house blaze
The Chellapermal and Lallmohamed families residing at Vacoas found themselves homeless after a fire destroyed their homes. It is not the first time that a fire broke out in the modest houses of these families. Last December Billy Chellapermal, a carpenter aged 31, saw his workshop burned down. His tools and personal effects were totally damaged. During the month of March a second fire broke out. One of the house rooms took fire and according to Billy Chellapermal “a switch was at the origin of the fire.”
The eco-tourism drawing competition organised by the marketing team of News on Sunday has been crowned with success. More than 200 children from the following categories (ages 6-9,10-13 and 14-18) have participated in the competition. Living in different parts of the country, giving a clear indication that News on Sunday is read all over the island.
