The mysterious theft of gold and silver bars valuing about Rs38 million has been solved. Hans Chamilall and Aslam Khodabacus who were the initial prime suspects have been freed. The provisional charge of "larceny” against them has been dropped by the Pamplemousses Court on Wednesday. This twist occured after the arrest of new suspects, Prabhujee Meetoo and his gang who have confessed to the crime. This cleared the driver Hans Chamilall and his assistant Khodabacus Aslam.

Jean Liberman Emilien, a fisherman aged 24 and residing at Rodrigues, bought a brand new motorcycle earlier this year. He was riding his motorcycle near Cascade Jean-Louis on Monday night, when he lost control of his vehicle before falling in a gutter. The heavy showers recorded in Rodrigues supposedly caused this accident. He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital at Crève-Coeur, but it was too late. Dr. Shaila Parsad Jankee, medical examiner, will travel to Rodrigues to perform an autopsy. All the inhabitants of Reposoir and friends of the young victim are affected by this sudden disappearance. Jean Liberman Emilien was known as a generous person.

Adolescent victim of terrible bike accident
Written by News On Sunday Feroz M, aged 16 and residing at Vallée Pitot has been the victim of a terrible accident on Tuesday night at the height of the NTR Mapou. He was on a motorcycle when he hit the side of a van near the of Mapou / Pamplemousses junction. The young man had apparently lost control of his vehicle, fell heavily and ended against a ramp. According to preliminary information, the officers do not exclude the fact that the young man who has neither a ‘learner’ nor a driving licence, was participating in a rally during that late hour.

Residents of Sodnac had a disgusting experience yesterday: muddy water flowing from the tap. Two children aged seven and eleven respectively vomited after drinking the muddy water. Their father said they started vomiting shortly after drinking the contaminated water on Monday at about 1pm. “We gave them serum to drink... They are gradually recovering... The water was muddy and smelled foul,” said the father.

Two workers at a farm in Grand Bay were attacked on Monday morning by two men armed with guns and sabre, who then stole about 27 goats which were recently imported from South Africa. The two workers, Dev (ficticious name), aged 57, residing at The Vale and an Indian were on the farm when they heard noises. Equipped with flashlights, they rushed out to see what was happening. To their surprise, they found two masked men, well built and dressed in blue.
