An attack on Gregory Jeannot, a resident of Roche-Bois, aged 22, by Bangladeshi workers who live in the region sparked unrest on Sunday 16 September.  About 300 residents of Roche-Bois took to the streets to demonstrate their anger against the presence of Bangladeshi workers in their area.
They set fire to the dormitory of the latter. The event subsequently transformed into conflicts between angry residents and the police force who used teargas to disperse the crowd. At 17 hrs, the situation was under control. All Bangladeshi workers were evacuated by the police for “safety” reasons. Nine of the suspected rioters were arrested and four of them have been released on bail after spending a night in cell.

Three Bangladeshi workers suspected of being the attackers of Gregory Jeannot were arrested on Monday and charged with assault. Police objected to their release on bail. Gregory Jeannot, who claims to have nothing to do with this incident, was admitted to a clinic. The cause of the trouble was allegedly a case of theft on Bangladeshi workers who retaliated.
