The United Kingdom is the second most coveted study destination for Mauritian students after the United States. According to the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) Report 2011, around 1,000 Mauritians chose UK for their higher education.

Studying in Australia

Australia has over the years, become a very coveted study destination for Mauritian students. While the main intake is over, that is in February/March, those who have missed it can still apply to some of the Australian universities for July/August and October/November intakes.

The objective of the Ministry of Tertiary Education is to have 100, 000 foreign students in Mauritius by 2020. While the public-funded institutions have relatively few foreign students, private institutions are attracting more of them in the country.
