Gunshots fired at french embassy building: Still under police scrutiny

The investigation in the case of gunshot at the French Embassy is ongoing. On Thursday, Nadeem Edoo’s vehicle was searched. Forensic samples have been taken on the vehicle to detect if there are bullets residues. The exercise was attended by the latter and investigators. The samples will be analysed and the results will be known in the coming days. Nadeem Edoo, 36 years old, was interrogated by CID on Wednesday. He denied any involvement in the shooting at the French Embassy and St Georges Hotel. Two .12 and .16 calibre guns were seized at his residence. He said that his two guns are duly registered with the authorities. During this verification exercise, the police detected irregularities in his ammunition. Nadeem Edoo confessed that he received two bullets from a friend. This is against the regulations and forced the police to investigate on Reaz, an inhabitant of Goodlands. Since Reaz Togally was not at home, his wife was interrogated by the police officers. Two .22 calibre rifles and 12 mm as well as ammunitions (44 bullets of 12 mm and 37 of 22 mm) were seized. They were not secured in a safe as per the law. On Thursday, Reaz Togally was interrogated by the police in the presence of his lawyers. Up to now, no one has been arrested. It is to be recalled that on early Monday morning, two shots were fired in the direction of the Embassy of France in Port Louis. There was also a shot at the window of the St. Georges Hotel, located almost opposite. Two .12 calibre weapons and .16 were used, probably shotguns. No injuries were reported.
