Malaysian authorities were thus alerted. Michael Kemp was finally found, in a terrible state, on Wednesday morning in a hospital close to Kuala Lumpur. He was admitted to the intensive care unit.

Air Mauritius Regional Manager based in Singapore, Prakash Rai, proceeded to Kuala Lumpur the very same day and has visited him. Michael Kemp’s wife, Laura Kemp, arrived in Malaysia on Thursday to see her husband.

Mauritius Ambassador to Malaysia Eshan Patel and his South African counterpart are also at the hospital in Kuala Lumpur. They will discuss with the referring physicians and the pilot's wife to see if it is necessary to transfer Michael Kemp to another hospital.

The circumstances surrounding the hospitalisation of the 34-year-old pilot of South African origin remain unclear. The Malaysian police have opened an investigation and have retrieved images from the surveillance cameras of the hotel where Michael Kemp resided.
