Pakistan Independence Day celebrations

On Monday 14 August, Pakistan celebrated its 70th Independence. In Mauritius, the High Commission of Pakistan celebrated this day in Floreal. It was a day gathering the Pakistan nationals residing in Mauritius. A reception was given and a flag raising ceremony was held.

The chargé d’affaires Zahid Ahmed Khan Jatoi conveyed his heartfelt wishes to more than two billion Pakistanis living in their home town and five million Pakistanis Diaspora living around the world. “I wish to extend my wishes of love, peace, unity, progress, welfare and request them to play the role of a law abiding responsible citizen wherever they are. I also request them to play a vibrant citizen and contribute to the economy in the country they are living in. Long live the friendship Mauritius-Pakistan.”

A cake decorated specially for this celebration was cut and children participated actively in the traditional celebrations with folklore songs. 

Pakistan Prime Minister’s Message       

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in his message emphasized the need to strengthen the state institutions so that they can play their prescribed role within the limits of law and the constitution. “The independence that we achieved seventy years ago was an outcome of the unparalleled sacrifices made by our ancestors. Millions of Muslims rendered sacrifices for our as well as the future of the posterity. Today we are treading the path of prosperity and progress in a peaceful and dignified country because of those sacrifices. We are greatly indebted to our ancestors for their sacrifices and we can repay that debt only by making Pakistan a free and independent country.”

He appreciated the exceptional talent and burning desire for advancement of the younger generation and acknowledged their admirable contribution in the fields of Information Technology, Engineering, Medical and Management all over the world, in a distinct manner. “I assure the Pakistani youth that tomorrow’s Pakistan will ensure the implementation of guiding principles of rule of law and ascendency of merit. On the seventieth independence day of the country, I make a solemn pledge that we will not relent until the achievement of those objectives.”
