Pravind Jugnauth : “Mauritius is aiming to triple its enrolment of international students”

Government’s aim is to transform Mauritius into an Education Hub for the region and beyond. The Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, made this statement yesterday during the inauguration of the African Leadership College (ALC) in Beau Plan. Other personalities were Fred Swaniker and Nicolas Maigrot.

In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted that the ALC focusses on providing an environment that promotes the spirit of enquiry as well as research and pioneers a fresh approach to new forms of leadership through higher education. He underscored that Mauritius is aiming to triple its enrolment of international students in the years to come as well as an aggressive marketing strategy to enhance the visibility of the sector will help to achieve this objective. The ALC will no doubt help Mauritius become a beacon in the education sector of the region, as the college has already built a reputation for itself in Mauritius and on the African continent, he added.

The Founder of ALC, Mr Fred Swaniker, for his part, underpinned that the college is an educational institution with a purpose where students are asked to declare a mission and not only an academic major. The CEO of Terra Group, Mr Nicolas Maigrot, for his part, explained that this inauguration is inscribed in Novaterra’s strategy, the real estate arm of the group.
