Sorties en mer : la police appelle à la prudence

La police, dans un communiqué émis samedi matin 11 juin, demande aux membres du public qui ont prévu de faire des sorties en mer ce week-end de faire preuve de prudence à cause du mauvais temps provoqué par un anticyclone évoluant au sud des Mascareignes.

  Il en est de même pour les pêcheurs, propriétaires de bateaux et skippers. La police demande aussi à tous ceux qui ont prévu des sorties en mer de porter des gilets de sauvetage même dans les lagons.

The anti-cyclone to the South of the Mascarene is still influencing the weather in Mauritius, as evidenced by the weather bulletin issued by the Meteorological Services. Members of the public, fishermen, owners boat houses and skippers are strongly advised to take cognizance of the weather forecast issued by the Mauritius Meteorological Services before proceeding for sea sorties or any other nautical activity during the week end and onwards. They are also advised to wear life jackets when travelling afloat, even inside the lagoon, for their own safety and take all necessary precautions before venturing at sea. Boats hired for trips should refrain from admitting more passengers than authorised as per their licence. The National Coast Guard will be maintaining afloat and ashore patrol to provide any assistance. It is advised that members of the public, fishermen and skippers inform the nearest National Coast Guard Post, whenever they are undertaking a sea sortie and the expected time of arrival. Moreover National Coast Guard Operations Room remains available on a 24/7 basis and can be contacted on 2083935/208 8317 or on VHF set CH 16 in case of any emergency.
